Lauren of Wirral Muddy Rugs (West Kirby, Wirral) asked me to design a leaflet for her equine laundry and soon-to-be tack shop business.
I immediately thought of a stable door idea for the design. To pull this off, the leaflet had to have a gate fold (where the finished size is A5, the front opens up to a full A4 landscape sheet inside).
I loved the idea of opening the front of the leaflet (stable doors) to have hay inside the leaflet (and stables!). The reverse is a closed stable door. I adore using graphic design to create interesting concepts such as this!
I utilised Lauren’s corporate colours and used fonts to compliment the business – using a handwritten-type font on highlighted text to reflect – through graphic design – the friendly and approachable nature of the organisation, contrasted with a clear, simple and fresh font for the majority of the information.
Following the success of the leaflet I designed for Wirral Muddy Rugs, Lauren then asked me to create a business card for her to pass out to contacts and a loyalty card for her tack shop customers.
I used the same idea of the stable door wood on the front and hay on the reverse to create these cards – using the (now corporate!) colours and fonts to build upon Lauren’s branding. A simple but effective design which will ensure Lauren’s company literature become memorable and instantly recognisable.
Lauren then asked me to design a simple A5 poster which could display some content about her new tack shop, including opening hours and a background to the business. I used the same white banners with a satin effect on the posters as I had on the previous designs in order to build on the consistency of the brand.
I also had to incorporate images of the shop’s stock, which I ran along the bottom of the poster and then, of course, included address and contact details.
