Working in partnership with Vigo IT Solutions, based in Wirral and covering areas of Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales (vigoitsolutions.com) as a sub-contractor (hence Vigo’s name on the footer!), I was asked to create a fresh, clean and contemporary website for Hoylake B&B (Wirral), Pendragon House.
Peter and Sue wanted a text-based logo so I create a very simple design-led logo with a script font for the B&B name and a very clear typeface for the word ‘house’, seated neatly under the name. I used a light petrol blue shade for the logo and carried this through into all aspects of the website.
I simply lifted the content from their old website and tweaked for SEO (Kurt from Vigo further implemented the SEO campaign). I was able to use the images from the original site to create artwork for sliders and banners on every page.
Using widgets in the sidebar, I created more interest within the website. I included an seasonal image widget, a call to action and another image widget to display the accreditations of the B&B.
Peter and Sue wanted their reviews from Trip Advisor to feature within the website so I downloaded a plugin which fits perfectly within the ‘Review’ page, enabling the selection of five different languages.
Overall, I was really happy with the final look and feel of the site, as well as the main purpose of the brief being fulfilled – a fresh, clean and contemporary site to provide information about the B&B and the local area to existing and potential customers.
