Chloe, Development Manager at Wirral Mencap (Birkenhead, Wirral), asked me to create a website based on Mencap Liverpool’s site. Liverpool’s was based on a WordPress theme, as normal, but had been heavily adapted by a web developer.
With no documentation, this was a bit tricky for me to replicate Liverpool’s site! I was provided with all of the files to enable me to set it up and build the site structure.
I also received the site map/navigation from Chloe and we worked together to ensure the site was just as Wirral wanted!
The Home page featured all news and events (pulled from all blog posts) – as does the the News and Events page. The Upcoming Events page features an events calendar where site users can see all activities and fundraising events details, with the Past Events page displaying blog posts which have passed.
The sidebar on all pages shows a sign up widget where site users can input their full name and email address (which get stored on a secure database) and will receive regular updates on news, events and achievements. Below this is a Twitter feed widget which displays the latest tweet by Wirral Mencap. On all interior pages, the sidebar also shows a ‘More in this section’ function where users can navigate the sub-pages within.
So, with Chloe adding images and content – this website took shape very quickly and mirrors the look and feel of Mencap Liverpool; with all the relevant information for Wirral Mencap.
